Care for our community and the environment
Partnerships are at the heart of how we work at Condimentum. We can achieve so much more by working together than we can on our own.
Innovation for a sustainable future
Our collaborative and adventurous approach leads to new innovations. We invest in R&D to ensure our ingredients are of the highest quality and that we are using them to their full potential. We are continually focussed on a programme of waste reduction / elimination.
A closer relationship with growers
We believe growers and food manufacturers benefit when they are able to work closely together.
Condimentum is grower-backed, and we value the close relationships we build with our customers and the end product.
We are experts in our field and work closely with people at every step of the supply chain, from agronomists and partners to development chefs.
Supporting the local economy
Many of our growers’ families have been farming in the East of England for generations. Mint and mustard crops provide jobs on farms across the region. Our work also provides demand for linked services such as agronomy.
Condimentum have retained skills of those who previously worked at the Colman’s factory, transferring this expertise and knowledge of mustard and mint milling which would otherwise have been lost.
Care for the environment
Diversity of crops in the countryside are important for wildlife and mustard and mint play their part in supporting the ecosystem.
Mint is grown in small fields with margins around the crop which is good for wildlife. Mustard provides good habitat for birds including skylarks, lapwings and corn buntings to forage and nest in. We employ farm practices which maintain these environments.
In 2014, the English Mustard Growers in partnership with Unilever a study took place across 16 farms to see how much nectar and pollen was being produced each month. As a result, each business was given practical recommendations on how to help the bee population on their land. Working together across our farms we’re able to create a landscape which benefits wildlife.
We’re members of LEAF which works to enable sustainable farming that is prosperous, enriches the environment and engages local communities. As you can tell, it’s a mission we fully support.
Educational projects
Our growers are ambassadors for farming and enjoy sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with the general public. For example, Park Farm Thorney welcomes 12,000 people during Open Farm Sunday each year and works with schools to inspire the next generation. Many of our growers regularly speak about farming.
